Wearables Largescale integrations
Wearables in a very short time have already proven their ability to grow not only in HW and SW functionality, but also in their use cases and varying form-factors. It is wearables “failures” which tend to get the most coverage which may have many wondering about the various wearable form-factors of the future, but take a look at the first cell-phones and ask yourself if it looks like something you’d really want.
Our watches are approaching our phone capabilities - whether it’s making phone calls or payments with no need to have a powered up phone anywhere near by - the simple use cases of these devices is beginning to explode. This combined with new and improved HW getting condensed into smaller wearables and even our clothing - soon we’re each likely to find ourselves and our own walking IoT fog computing node.
Large Capablities in a small package
What was once a device which proved of little use beyond a wrist band that users would use as a notification “helper” device or a simple “HR Monitor” for your workouts has outgrown those small shoes by leaps and bounds! We’ve gone from HR Monitors to health monitors with real-time health care interactions which are saving lives. What was once a cumbersome texting device has evolved to a full featured input device taking voice commands and providing real benefit to the individual user’s mobile eco-system.
When evaluating your organization’s mobile wearable strategy, be sure to consider the following HW form-factors:
- Watches
- Rings
- Clothing Fabric
- Beacons and other BTLE insertable dongles
